Technology, buildings and resources

Advance through a technology tree to unlock buildings and stronger units. Develop your economy, and make use of 48 resources, each offering unique bonuses to the largest producers. The game also features more than 90 unique buildings, laws and reforms, religions, legacies and advantages, as well as a council, advisors and generals.

Army composition and battles

Choose units for the front and second lines from more than 63 unit types. Front-line units engage nearby enemies, while second-line units attack within their range and can provide support, ranged attacks or specialized functions. Battles can cause casualties, troop retreats and morale loss. Manpower replenishes over time and is used to recruit troops and reinforce armies, so plan campaigns around its availability.
