The scattered XCOM forces must rally resistance and fight to eliminate the alien threat.

Lead the resistance

Take command of the Avenger, an alien supply craft converted into XCOM’s mobile headquarters. Choose where to send your strike team, build popular support and decide when to counter enemy operations. Recruit soldiers from 5 classes, each with its own skill tree, and develop the team to fit your tactical plans.

Tactical missions and upgrades

Use concealment to ambush patrols, recover gear and artifacts from enemies, and carry rescued VIPs or fallen comrades to extraction. Missions span wildlands, alien-controlled cities and installations, with varied map, mission and objective combinations. Configure rooms aboard the Avenger, then use Scientists and Engineers to research, develop and upgrade weapons and armor. The game also supports custom mods shared through the Steam Workshop and head-to-head multiplayer with mixed human and alien squads.
